What is iKey for X-keys?
Quick Answer:
iKey for X-keys is our newest X-keys software for Mac OSX, and was developed for us by Script Software (www.scriptsoftware.com ). iKey for X-keys is a version of Script Software's iKey software which was written for use with our X-keys devices.
Further Details:
Supported Devices:
iKey for X-keys supports the following types of devices:
- USB X-keys SE devices in SPLAT Mode.
- USB X-keys MWII devices in SPLAT Mode.
Supported Operating Systems:
iKey for X-keys is supported on the following operating systems:
- Mac OSX 10.1 - 10.5
What's New:
The following list shows just a few of the new features which were not available in our old MacroWorks software:
- Mac OSX 10.5 Support - iKey for X-keys is the only X-keys programming application which is supported on Mac OSX 10.5.
- Application Specific Contexts - Program macros for a specific application. iKey for X-keys will activate those macros only while you are working in that application, and can execute different macros in other applications.
What we lost:
Sadly not all of the features of our older MacroWorks software are available in iKey for X-keys. Here are some of the features we lost:
- Multiple Devices - The current version of iKey for X-keys does not support the use of two or more of the same X-keys device operating on the same computer.
- Jog and Shuttle Wheels and Joystick Controls - The current version supports the X-keys Jog & Shuttle Pro and the X-keys Joystick Pro devices, though neither the jog & shuttle wheel nor the joystick is programmable.
- Multiple Programming Layers - The current version supports only one layer of programming.
- Backlighting - Unfortunately we have not currently have the ability to toggle the backlighting on and off with iKey for X-keys.
Future Plans:
We are currently speaking with Script Software about increasing support for our X-keys devices. Unfortunately we are uncertain which features Script Software will be able to incorporate, or how long it will take to implement.
Where to Download:
iKey for X-keys can be downloaded from the following location on our web site: http://www.piengineering.com/software/ikeyxkey.phpBuy the Full Version:
iKey for X-keys is a smaller version of the iKey software, and does not offer all of the same features and abilities as the full version of the iKey software. You are not required to purchase the full version of the iKey software, and may continue using the iKey for X-keys software if you prefer to.
You can purchase the full version of the iKey software from Script Software (www.scriptsoftware.com).
