What is MacroWorks II?

Quick Answer:

MacroWorks II is the latest Windows-based programming software for USB X-keys devices operating in SPLAT Mode.

Further Details:

Supported Devices:

MacroWorks II supports the following types of devices:

  • USB X-keys SE devices in SPLAT Mode.
  • USB X-keys MWII devices in SPLAT Mode.

Supported Operating Systems:

MacroWorks II is supported on the following operating systems:
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP (All Versions)
  • Windows Vista (All Versions)

How it Works:

MacroWorks II does not use any programming drivers; it is entirely script based, and was programmed using AngelScript. This gave our programmers more flexibility when designing the software, and also allowed us to simplify the installation process.

What's Improved:

The following list shows just a few of the improvements made over our old MacroWorks software:
  • Only one program to work with - No more Macro Maker and Macro Manager. MacroWorks II handles both the programming and layout management aspects of using your X-key device, eliminating the hassle of needing two separate programs.
  • Faster Programming - No need to navigate through menus or manually assign your layouts. MacroWorks II can be accessed using your device's programming switch, and it will automatically assign your layout when you finish programming it.
  • Dynamic GUI - Users can now combine keys into double and quad keys and add key spacers to make the MacroWorks II GUI reflect the hardware configuration of their X-keys device.
  • Separate Press and Release Commands - Separate press and release macros are now easier than ever to program, placing both macros in a single window rather than forcing you to switch between multiple windows.

What's New:

The following list shows just a few of the new features which were not available in our old MacroWorks software:
  • Windows Vista Support - MacroWorks II is the only X-keys programming application which is supported on Windows Vista.
  • Application Specific Layers - Program two layers for a specific application. MacroWorks II will automatically switch to those layers while you are working in that application, and switch back to its previous layout when you leave.
  • Direct X Support - MacroWorks II offers Direct X support to better integrate with your games. MacroWorks II can send your pre-programmed commands to your favorite game faster than it ever could before.
  • Hidden Mode - If you don't want to see MacroWorks II's GUI while you program your device you don't have to. Set the GUI to hidden mode and program on-the-fly while playing your favorite game or while working in an application.
  • Multimedia Commands - We have built Windows multimedia commands directly into our MacroWorks II software. Not only do we support controlling Windows Media Player, but we have also included commands for controlling WinAmp.
  • Drag and Drop - Drag and drop shortcuts, files, and programs onto the MacroWorks II GUI to program your keys to open them.
  • Print Date - Program MacroWorks II to automatically print the date for you.
  • Custom Commands - MacroWorks II allows you to program your own custom commands using AngelScript, and then import them into MacroWorks II's custom command list.

What we lost:

Sadly not all of the features of MacroWorks could be recreated in MacroWorks II. Here are some of the features we lost:
  • Mouse Movements - MacroWorks II cannot move the cursor up, down, left or right like our older MacroWorks software could, and we do not currently have any plans to support this in the future.
  • LCD Display - MacroWorks II cannot write any information to the display of any of our devices which have an LCD display.
  • Backlighting - Unfortunately we have not yet included the ability to toggle the backlighting on and off with MacroWorks II. A Custom Script work-around can be downloaded from our website so that you can assign one of your buttons to toggle the backlighting on and off.

Custom Commands:

MacroWorks II supports the ability to import custom scripts. These can be scripts you have written yourself, or scripts that other users have created.
