What computer systems do these devices work on?

PS/2 devices work on any computer that has a PS/2 port, including Windows and Linux machines. They can work on USB-only systems with the use of an adapter such as the Y-Mouse.

How are PS/2 devices programmed? What software should I use to program my device?

PS/2 devices do not require software or drivers. They are programmed via a PS/2 keyboard that is connected to the passthrough port. The PS/2 keyboard may be disconnected once programming is complete.

The steps for programming are as below:

Slide X-keys Programming Switch Tap an X-keys key Type on the keyboard Tap the X-keys Key again Return the X-keys Programming Switch
1. Slide the programming switch to programming position
2. Select a key to program
3. Type
4. Reselect the key to confirm programming
5. Slide the switch back to operating position (or select another key to program)

What can I program to my device? How many keystrokes can my device store?

PS/2 devices accept any keyboard keystrokes. They can store 900 to 1,000 keystrokes for the entire unit in the on-board, non-volatile memory.

Is there a list of special commands, such as a layer toggle, to use for the X-keys?

All of the special commands are documented in the PS/2 Device Manual.
